Data lab – Tools comparison R, Python, Power BI and others

In this Lab we are going to look and the commonly used tools and discuss the pros and cons of each in different circumstances. Please bring along a laptop with the tools of your choice loaded and also some scenarios that you are working through.

We will also do a quick demo on some tool integration (likely R or Python through Power BI – TBC).

We also encourage you to bring along your problems so that we can group brainstorm solutions together.

There is a nominal $50 drop in fee for a lab session. Multi-lab subscription options are also available (please contact us for more details).

Some topics are fixed (e.g. the third Wednesday in every month is a Power BI lab) and the other sessions will be announced typically with 2 weeks notice.

Stephen is the CEO of DAVHILL Group, a Business Intelligence and Data Analytics company based in Ottawa, Ontario.

With an academic background in Physics and Engineering he has worked in semiconductor and OEM manufacturing as an engineer and supply chain director. As a Business Intelligence and Process Transformation consultant he seems to spend most of his time either playing with aircraft in the aviation industry or with the Federal Canadian Government.
